KAZAN, Russia --- Texas A&M swimmer Sarah Henry made a pair of trips to the award stand on Saturday as she earned a pair of medals at the 2013 World University Games.
Henry, a sophomore from Garner, North Carolina, earned a gold medal with Team USA?s winning 800-meter freestyle relay, and she took a silver medal with a runner-up finish in the 200 IM.
In the 800 free relay, Henry and her relay mates of Andrea Murez, Chelsea Chenault and Megan Romano turned in a time of 7:55.53 to hold off the Russian Federation team for a narrow .23 victory (7:55.76).
Earlier in the session, Henry took runner-up honors in the 200 IM to Russia?s Viktoriiya Andreeva with a lifetime best time of 2:12.69. Henry trailed by over a second after the butterfly and backstroke legs, but rallied in the back half but couldn?t run down Andreeva who logged a .37 second victoy (2:12.32).
It was Henry second individual Championship final appearance of the World University Games. Previously Henry logged a seventh place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:46.02.
In other action involving Aggies, freshman Ashley McGregor, representing Canada, advanced to the semifinals of the 200-meter breaststroke where she placed sixth in a time of 2:31.27 and did not advance to the final. Junior Henrik Lindau, representing Sweden, competed in the 50 butterfly (24.58), the 50 backstroke (27.08) and the 100 freestyle (50.99), and still has the 100 fly to swim.
