?
At the end of the regular season, the Bobcats were interviewing coaches such as Jerry Sloan and Brian Shaw, who have plenty of experience coaching at the NBA level, however, Rich Cho and Michael Jordan have chosen to go with a fresh new face instead.?
?
Dunlap does have a little coaching experience in the NBA, as an assistant to George Karl and the Denver Nuggets, but the bulk of his experience comes from the college coaching ranks.
?
While the report does come as a bit of a surprise, it?s possible that the impetus behind the signing was the youth of the Bobcats.? Some of the players on the current roster are still young enough to be in college.? So, it?s very possible that Cho and Jordan want the players and head coach to grow together through the same process, akin to Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan.
?
It?s hard to say right now, how Dunlap will handle coaching the worst team in the NBA, especially after what Paul Silas just went through.? But it seems as though Cho and Jordan have signed Dunlap for the long haul, instead of just a quick fix.? If not, it's hard to justify turning away one of the greatest coaches in NBA history in Jerry Sloan.
